Climb Prop Does anyone have experience having a prop re-twisted from cruise to climb on a 7AC Champ with the original A-65-8 engine? Sensynich (sp??) says they will do it for about $225, with one or two day turn-around at Lancaster, Pa. My prop is a McCauley
1B90-CM 7445 which means a square tipped 74 inch diameter with a pitch of 45 inches.
At some point in its history McCauly reduced it's diameter to 73 inches and changed the pitch to 46 inches. I get only 2100 RPM, but I get a good cruise of 85 to 90 mph consistently. I am giving tailwheel instruction and want to change to a climb prop to improve performance near the ground, and don't care that I will lose 15 to 20 mph in cruise, as I am told I will.
I want to know if anyone got an approx. 150 rpm increase (2100 to 2250) with the change from cruise to climb. -
