Auster J4 Archer VH-CRR.
After having a photo of the Citabria I soloed on this page for about the last 7 or so years I figure it's about time for an update...

In May 2011 I bought an Auster J4. It's not currently airworthy as I'm in the middle of re-covering the left wing. Once this is completed I'll go flying.

Auster's are quite common in the UK, Australia & New Zealand, but the J4 was only produced in 1946 and only 26 were made. Another three were converted from a J2 Arrow's to J4 Archer's in Australia by replacing the Continental A-75 with a 100HP Cirrus Minor inverted in-line engine. The conversions were done by Kingsford Smith Flyng Service in Sydney. CRR is one of the three that were converted. Only 9 or 10 Archers are known to still exist, with only 2 or 3 currently airworthy.

In 1964 it flew in the RM Ansett Air Race, and in 1968 it was bought by Eric Szerenyi, who owned it for 43 years and flew it all over outback Australia.

Here's the link to my website with a few more photo's;

In the meantime I'm flying my Father's Aeronca Chief.
