Bought the ugliest 170 in the country and learned how to fly in it. Sold it with the understanding that we got first dibs if/when they ever sold. Low and behold about 3 years later with almost no additional hours but a nice new paint job and interior we got her back.
Also spend a fair amount of time in 1975 Skywagon (the last factory polished 180 that Cessna ever produced). It's gorgeous and goes like a home sick angel but much heavier on the controls and not half as much fun to fly as the 170.
Have been fortunate to log hours in C-140's, C-195, Stinson 108, Taylorcraft, Supercub. Also have enough time to be signed off in C-206 & C-210 - both great for what they do, but I'll take a tailwheel anytime and anywhere.
How much better can life be than to have a healthy family and enough time and money to go for an occassional ride in a beautiful CONVENTIONAL airplane?
Any other fiddle/guitar/mandolin/bass playing pilots out there?
