Hi ! I'm Michel Verwey.
I live in Germany, but fly in France. (Plenty of travel getting to the aerodrome, indeed ;-( )
I'm in the closing stages of getting my PPL on a craft that's very similar to the above, but non-taildragger: A Robin DR 400, the most common instruction plane in French flying clubs. Which I prefer vastly in flying behaviour to the omnipresent 'spam can' C152's. ( A C140, now that's an airplane ...) All I have left to do is one or two more cross-countries and polishing it all up a bit ... now where was that list of weather codes again ... When I get my ticket, I'll continue straight on with my taildragger rating, start the same day if I can ...
I fly in the Vosges mountains, a pretty lovely area of hills, valleys, woods and small rivers in Northeastern France. The weather is not always so good, I'm afraid.
The first landing I experienced with this (or any) taildragger was with this experienced & grizzled mountain-flying type, who landed by really 'slapping' the tailwheel on the the ground before anything else hit, 'you gotta keep that little ... in it's place' ...
The Robin DR aircraft are developed from the fairly legendary Jodel range, if you'd like to get some info on these machines you could do worse than to take a look at "http://www.jodel.com".
Notice the nice Pitts S2 sharing our hangar. Once I get my licence I'm invited to go up for a spin - Quite literally, I imagine !
Ok, TTFN, keep it straight like they told ya, and wish me luck with my ticket !
Good Flying to all
Michel
