Welcome to TAILWHEEL BASICS, the home of tailwheel transition training and proficiency in the Mid-Atlantic area.

OLD SCHOOL "SEAT OF THE PANTS" FLYING LETS YOU KNOW WHY TAILWHEEL TRAINING MAKES YOU A BETTER PILOT.

Tailwheel training makes you a better, more precise pilot- you will hold the centerline in any airplane and in most wind conditions.

My 15 minute TAILWHEEL BASICS (TM) video (includes three page booklet) is available in DVD format for $19.95 Ppd. Contact me at skip@tailwheelbasics.com for more information or to order- check or money order. My video puts you in the pilots seat and features synchronized video from inside and outside the airplane. It shows you the ground exercises (including high speed taxiing), take offs and landings which you need to master.

THIS IS NOT AN ENTERTAINMENT VIDEO. The 15 minute video shows you the basics needed to start tailwheel training. Produced to let you know what to expect when you go for the TD endorsement.
Experience includes 40+ makes and models, 20 makes and models of tailwheel aircraft- All Piper J and PA series, C-120-185, Husky, Citabria, American Champion, Bellanca, T-Craft, Stinson, Luscombe (8A-F), Aeronca, Maule, Fairchild 24 and others. My goal is to have you become comfortable with conventional gear aircraft, as a refresher, or for a tailwheel endorsement and/or flight review.

                                    <<*TAILWHEEL FEET ARE HAPPY FEET*>>

Based on proficiency, the tailwheel "sign off" course can take 4-10 hours. This may include a flight review if desired.

Based in Central Virginia (GVE- Gordonsville, Virginia), I can travel to you. There is a grass field at Louisa and we can travel to others locally if you train here. You will enjoy the transition training.

                                    <<*FERRY PILOT FOR HIRE*>>

I will also professionally ferry your single engine aircraft for $150.00 per day plus reasonable expenses (I eat and sleep cheap). Across the State or across the Country. Any ASEL TD mentioned above, plus any ASEL tri gear including Bellanca Viking(17-30A), Mooney(M20-M201 series), Beech(19,23,24,33,35,35,A/B36-TC), Cessna(100-200 series),Commander 112/114TC, Grumman(AA1 thru AA5/Tiger), Piper(PA-28 thru 32R all models)and Socata (Tabago thru Trinidad). Weather is always a factor, but with lots of single engine IMC in the logs and barring any maintenance issues, your plane will arrive safely and in a timely manner, if properly equipped and certified. Drop me an email or call and let's discuss your needs. I am sure we can work something out for ferrying a plane for you. Contractual agreements only.

                                    <<*INSTRUMENT INSTRUCTION IN IMC*>>

Proficient instrument instructor with hundreds of actual "in the milk bottle" single engine dual given instrument instruction. Former Stormscope salesman with recent GPS training and experience. I have two ATC-510G that I use and rent to students to use at their home or office. I also own a Pacer MK II that can be used as well.
