Hey Taildragger lovers -

This isn't my airplane. It's Sam Lyons'  famous painting entitled "Gasin' Up".

To me, this painting has always perfectly captured the 1940's, & '50's Champ-flyin' feeling. I hope you enjoy it.
Sam Lyons is my favorite aviation artist because there is so much "feeling" in his paintings.  Posting this picture is my tribute to his work.

I'll also post several photos of the Champ I am using for tailwheel endorsements and rentals at Bandel Airport (22D) in the Pittsburgh, Pa. area.  A great little (LEVEL!) grass airport and home of the Pittsburgh Soaring Club. (www.angelfire.com/pa3/gliders/).  Bruce Bandel is doing a super job of maintaining and improving this grass strip in the tradition of a classic 1940's or '50's country airport.

March 2008 UPDATE:  Last Spring, I moved the champ to Finleyville Airport (G05), still in the Pittsburgh, Pa. area. The reason was that we had a soggy Spring, and I needed the option of a hard-surface runway.  Finleyville has a paved runway as well as grass.
